Washing guides
Care by fibre, not by label.
Cotton & ikat
Throws, towels, khadi, cotton sarees. Natural indigo releases a little colour for the first few washes. That is normal and it settles.
- Wash
- Cold, by hand or on a gentle cycle. Alone for the first three washes
- Soap
- Mild liquid detergent or soapnut. No bleach, no brighteners
- Dry
- In shade, inside out. Direct sun fades indigo
- Iron
- Medium heat while slightly damp
Mulberry silk
Kanchipuram sarees. Zari tarnishes with moisture and perfume, so keep both away from the border.
- Wash
- Dry clean only. Ask for a roll press, not a hard press
- Store
- In the muslin bag provided. Refold along new lines every three months
- Avoid
- Plastic covers, naphthalene in direct contact, hanging for months
- Iron
- Low heat, reverse side, with a cotton cloth between
Tussar
Bhagalpur dupattas. Tussar is sturdier than mulberry silk, and softens nicely with careful washing.
- Wash
- Dry clean, or cold hand wash with a silk shampoo
- Handle
- Press the water out in a towel. Never wring
- Dry
- Flat, in shade
- Iron
- Low heat, reverse side, while damp
Chanderi
Stoles and curtain panels. The silk-cotton is fine and can snag, so treat it like lace.
- Wash
- Dry clean first. After that, very gentle cold hand wash
- Handle
- Keep away from jewellery and velcro
- Dry
- Flat or on a wide hanger, in shade
- Iron
- Low heat, steam lightly
Kala cotton & wool
Kutch bedcovers and Bhujodi shawls. Kala cotton starts a little stiff and softens with every wash.
- Wash
- Kala cotton: machine cold, gentle. Wool: cold hand wash with wool wash
- Dry
- Wool flat on a towel. Cotton on a line, in shade
- Store
- Wool with neem leaves or cedar, never in plastic
- Iron
- Cotton medium heat. Wool, steam only

The tax invoice is emailed when your order ships, with the HSN code for each piece. Orders delivered in Karnataka show CGST and SGST. Orders to other states show IGST.
Textiles priced up to ₹2,500 a piece are taxed at 5%. Above ₹2,500 the rate is 18%, as revised in September 2025. The rate on your invoice always follows the current notification.
Buying for a business? Add your GSTIN and registered business name at checkout and we issue a B2B invoice so you can claim input tax credit. We can’t change the GSTIN after the invoice is issued.
